  Our Mission

  Swinburne University of Technology is committed to increasing and enhancing practices and educational opportunities for people with disabilities. This commitment is based on a philosophy of integration that characterises the University's approach to service provision. The Disability Support Service, operated by the Equity and Disabilty Unit, Student Services, ensures the application of this philosophy in assisting students to manage their studies effectively in the face of disability.

  How we can help

  Disability Liaison Officers are available on each campus to assist students to access and fully participate in study by determining their support needs and clarifying the information that needs to be passed on to academic staff.

  In meeting with a Disability Liaison Officer, students are typically requested to provide information that will assist Swinburne in the planning and implementation of appropriate support services. The responsible Disability Liaison Officer will then discuss, with each student individually, the ways the disability may impact on study in order to determine the appropriate support services to be put in place. Once the appropriate services are identified, a service plan will be developed. These services can also be reviewed at any time, particularly if the student's circumstances change.

  This service is available to all currently enrolled students, at no charge.

Student Services provides a range of support and services to help students gain as much as possible from their time at Swinburne. Our services support you in achieving your learning objectives. The services provided by professional staff are personal and confidential and are available on all Swinburne campuses. There is no charge for these services, however, occassional costs may apply at the Health Service.
